Ann Assarsson, soprano, is putting the finishing touches on her Masters degree in Vocal Performance from NDNU, after obtaining degrees in International Relations, French, and Music, from Santa Clara University.
Together with her esteemed pianist and vocal coach Clint Cancio, Ann performs frequently in and around the Bay Area.
Highlights include a West Coast Tour performing Scandinavian Music, a special dinner performance for H.R.H. Princess Christina of Sweden, and earlier this year, a master class with opera soprano Licia Albanese.
A graduate of American Musical Theatre Artist's Institute, some of Ann's favorite roles include the title role in The Merry Widow, Ann Collier in 1940's Radio Hour, Lady Chiltern in An Ideal Husband, and Gussie Carnegie in Merrily We Roll Along (for which she received an American College Theatre Festival Nomination). This past July, Ann was a featured soloist with the Redwood Symphony after winning the 2004-2005 Aria Competition.
Opening on November 4th at the Pear Avenue Theatre, Ann will be playing the role of Sharon in Masterclass, a serio-comedic depiction of three students' encounters with the legendary Maria Callas. As part of a 9-member cast, Ann also looks forward to the continued success of Oh, Mr. Sousa! as it begins a series of performances across the United States. In her "free time", Ann enjoys teaching piano and voice, and is in the process of expanding her private studio.
