Ann Assarsson, soprano, put the finishing touches on her Masters of Music in Vocal Performance at Notre Dame de Namur University, after obtaining degrees in International Relations, French, and Music, from Santa Clara University. She enjoys a busy performance schedule, and has presented concerts both nationally, and internationally.
This past June, Ann embarked on a tour of the Czech Republic and Austria with the Santa Clara Chorale, where she performed the Pie Jesu (from Requiem for the People, by Pamela Quist) with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra at the historic Rudolphinum Concert Hall. Other highlights include a West Coast Tour performing Scandinavian Music, a special dinner performance for H.R.H. Princess Christina of Sweden, a master class with opera soprano Licia Albanese.
A graduate of American Musical Theatre Artist's Institute, some of Ann's past roles include the title role in The Merry Widow, Ann Collier in 1940's Radio Hour, Lady Chiltern in An Ideal Husband, and Gussie Carnegie in Merrily We Roll Along (for which she received an American College Theatre Festival Nomination). Ann has also been a soloist with the Redwood Symphony and the Santa Clara University Orchestra, after winning their respective Aria Competitions. A favorite role to date, is the role of Sharon in Masterclass, a serio-comedic depiction of three students' encounters with the legendary Maria Callas.
Ongoing, as part of a 9-member cast, Ann is enjoying the success of Oh Mr.Sousa! as it continues performing to thrilled audiences in venues across the United States.
Specializing in Event Production and Concert Programming, Ann is a Founding Member and Managing Director of the Depner & Deluca Social Club and is currently in the process of moving the organization into official Non-Profit status. One specific goal is the installment of six annual events/performances that will benefit the advancement of treatment options, and ultimately a cure, for Multiple Sclerosis.
