March 31st, 2007

Ann Assarsson & Ivy Depner present

Songs of Hope
A Fundraising Concert for the 2007 MS Walk

Date: Saturday, March 31st at 8pm (Gala Reception)

Location: Unitarian Universalist Church of Palo Alto ~ 505 East Charleston Road · Palo Alto · CA · 94306

Multiple sclerosis (MS) usually strikes adults in the prime of life - between the ages of 20 and 50. It is a chronic disease of the central nervous system affecting the brain & spinal cord. One new case of MS is diagnosed every hour, leaving yet another person to wonder, “Will I become paralyzed, blind, or have trouble walking? Will I be able to raise my children and continue working?”

Music has always played an important role in my life, even more so following my own MS diagnosis in 2004. For me, this concert is about bringing people together, raising MS awareness, and using music to show that I am hopeful about the future, and about finding a cure. The Songs of Hope Concert will feature well known works from Opera & Musical Theatre, as well as the world premier of a new composition!

Proceeds from this concert will register as sponsorships for the annual MS Walk in San Francisco on April 15, 2007. For more information on how to join our team, please e-mail me at ann@annassarsson.com. Last year our team raised over $12,000, and your contributions, large or small, will help us in the efforts to end this devastating disease.

If you are unable to attend the concert, but still wish to make a donation, you can do so by following the Pledge instructions at www.nationalmssociety.org, and searching for our team.

Checks made out to the “National MSSociety” can be mailed to:

The Depner & Deluca Social Club*, PO Box 3477, Santa Clara, CA 95055-3477

"OH MR. SOUSA!" is conceived as a semi-staged concert. As the band and music are the true stars of the show, the band is positioned on stage, and the vignettes, hiliting events in Sousa's life, are acted out either to the sides of, or in front of, the band. There are also walk-over scenes, taking the actors from one side of the downstage area to the other.

For more information, please go to www.ohmrsousa.com to find video clips, learn about the cast, and discover more information about John Philip Sousa, "The March King!"
